Body straps placed around the front and/or hind legs can help increase a horse’s awareness of its limbs and their movement. They provide gentle sensory feedback and support more precise coordination of movement.
Application:
- Tie two straps together and place them over the hips or withers.
- Wrap the straps around an existing body strap to add extra stability.
- Continue guiding the straps downward and wrap them around the front or hind legs.
- The end of the strap can be secured in various ways:
- Tucked under the existing body strap
- Loosely tied
- Fastened with a Velcro closure
Depending on the horse’s conformation and movement, the body strap can be positioned differently to achieve the best effect.
Usage Tips:
- Make sure the horse feels comfortable with the strap and can move freely.
- Start with short sessions to observe the horse’s reaction.
- If the horse moves stiffly or appears unsure, loosen or remove the straps and introduce them gradually.
- Every application should be tailored to the individual horse – experimentation is highly encouraged!
