Our Roots
Elastotex GmbH looks back on a long tradition in the production of high-quality elastic products. Rooted in the historic textile region of Saxony, we combine craftsmanship with state-of-the-art manufacturing technology.
Our company history is just as flexible as our bandages: it dates back to 1727 and stretches into the present day with specialized products for demanding applications. At that time, Georg Schöne founded one of the first ribbon-weaving workshops in Großröhrsdorf, equipped with handlooms. Around 70 years later, his grandson established the country’s first mechanical ribbon and webbing factory. The company primarily produced straps for a wide range of industries, including the automotive and clothing sectors.
In 1972, the company was nationalized and continued as a state-owned enterprise. Following reprivatization in 1990, the family business successfully maintained production. The Schöne family era came to an end in 2013 due to the absence of a successor. Under new leadership and with a new strategic direction, the production of elastic medical bandages continued.
However, the values and traditions of the Schöne family have endured. They continue to shape our corporate philosophy to this day: sustainability, a strong sense of responsibility, and the highest quality in every product.

This expertise is also reflected in the ongoing development of our portfolio: with specialized solutions such as body bands for animals—particularly for horses—we address current needs and transfer our know-how to new fields of application. In this way, we combine our long-standing tradition with modern, practical products.
