Forehand–Hindquarter Body Band

🎗️ Required Material:

Two or three bands with a width of 10 cm.

✨ Effect & Benefits:

The forehand–hindquarter body band consists of two loops connected to each other.
This creates a gentle impulse that helps the horse become more aware of its body.
It is particularly suitable for horses that are sensitive to touch on the hindquarters or for horses that have never worn a full body band before.
It can also be used in situations where the band needs to be removed quickly.
The aim is to improve the connection between the forehand and hindquarters and to promote overall body awareness.

📝 How to use:

Start with a band around the base of the neck and allow the horse to get used to it.
Take a second band (for large horses, two connected bands may be needed) and guide one end under the neck band at the withers.
Tie the two ends together so that two loops are formed.
Carefully slide the rear loop over the croup so that it lies about one hand’s breadth below the seat bones. Observe the horse’s reaction while doing so.
Walk a few steps with the horse, stop, and gently lift the tail over the band so it does not cause discomfort.

👀 Observations:

Many horses respond to the forehand–hindquarter body band with increased calmness and greater awareness of their hindquarters.
Excessive sensitivities in the hind area may decrease, and the movements often appear smoother as long as the band does not slip too high.

📌 Important Notes:

The band can always be held in the hand so that it can be released immediately in case of emergency.
A second person can also hold the rear loop loosely without fixing it.
To remove the band, simply lead the horse forward while the second person stays still – the horse will step out of the loop on its own.
If the horse reacts sensitively, the band can be extended with additional loops or applied step by step.
