🎗️ Required Material:
Two bands with a width of 8 cm or 10 cm.
✨ Effect & Benefits:
The double-loop body band promotes the horse’s overall body awareness.
It encircles the entire body without restricting freedom of movement and provides the horse with gentle impulses.
This allows the horse to coordinate its movements more effectively and find balance and calm more easily.
It can be helpful for:
- Horses that react insecurely to touch from behind or from the side.
- Young horses being introduced to wearing a girth or to lunging work.
- Horses with weak body awareness or uneven movements.
📝 Application:
- Connect two bands to form one long unit.
- Guide one end under the neck and over the withers to the other side.
- Hold the crossing at the withers with one hand and continue unrolling the band.
- Tie both ends loosely on the right side of the horse’s back so that the bands cross over the back in an X-shape.
- Place the second loop around the hindquarters: the back part lies about one hand’s breadth below the seat bones, the front part just above the elbow joint.
- Make sure the knots lie evenly and do not press on any sensitive areas.
👀 Observations:
Many horses change their movement immediately.
Insecure or unfocused horses often find a more stable posture more quickly with the double-loop body band and are better able to concentrate on their work.
📌 Important Notes:
- The band must neither cut in nor hang down too loosely.
- For very large horses, an additional band may be necessary.
- Check regularly during work that the band is positioned correctly.
🔀 Variations & Further Use:
If the horse feels insecure when the bands are applied in one step, they can first be attached in two separate parts.
