Body Line Band

🎗️ Required Material:

Several bands with a width of 10 cm.

Effect & Benefits:

The body line band is the most comprehensive version, as it connects the entire body from the head to the hindquarters.
It helps the horse lengthen the topline and develop better self-carriage.
Through gentle, flexible support, the horse learns to stretch and adopt a relaxed yet carrying posture.

It is particularly suitable for:

  • Horses that should find more balance during lunging or groundwork.
  • Horses with a high head carriage, tight back, or pronounced ewe neck.
  • Training sessions where auxiliary reins are avoided but gentle support is still desired.
  • Horses that need to learn to lengthen their topline and carry themselves better.

📝 Application:

  • First, place a band across the forehead.
  • Tie another band to each end and wrap them alternately around the neck until you reach the withers.
  • Optionally, an additional band can be used as belly support and connected to the chest band to prevent slipping.
  • Finally, attach another band on each side of the chest area and guide them over the hindquarters.

👀 Observations:

The body line band is intended for horses that are already familiar with body bands.
Pay special attention to changes in posture – the neck should lengthen and relax, and the movements may appear smoother.
Horses with a tense topline benefit particularly from this technique.

📌 Important Notes:

  • The band must lie loosely and gently so that freedom of movement is maintained.
  • If it is too tight, the desired effect is lost.
  • For inexperienced horses, it is advisable to begin with simpler versions such as the double-loop body band or the forehand–hindquarter body band.

🔀 Variations & Further Use:

A neck-trunk body band can serve as the base, to which additional bands around the neck can be attached.
If necessary, these can also be fastened to the halter or bridle.

⚠️ Safe Removal:

Most horses remain calm during removal once they are accustomed to body bands.
However, ensure that the ends do not flap uncontrollably and startle the horse.
Bands with Velcro closures make putting on and taking off much easier.

💡 Our Tip! 💡

Bands with Velcro fasteners at the ends are especially practical for handling.
